"Something else" from the director of M*A*S*H
This was one of my late father's favorite films and I must say, in the words of Irwin Fletcher, that "I commend him on his choice." It was directed by Robert Altman, and it sure was a bewildering follow-up, at least to most critics and audiences, to the superstar filmmaker's hugely successful
M*A*S*H. I had a great time revisiting it several years ago (in a new 35mm print) at the Film Forum's Altman retrospective.
At this point, I do not know why Warner Home Video is dragging its feet on the DVD of
Brewster McCloud. There have been indications in previous chat sessions at the Home Theater Forum, with Warner reps, that the film was coming to DVD, but there has been no official announcement.

TCM shows this every once in a blue moon and I managed to tape it last time in order to finally see it in its proper aspect ratio. I can't see much demand for this oddball film outside of Altman aficionados but I'd love see it on DVD. It's just a shame they didn't do anything while Altman was alive as he's contributed to the extras of previous DVD editions of his films (CALIFORNIA SPLIT, THE LONG GOODBYE, etc.).
Thanks for the tip, J.D. I will be sure to keep my eye on the tv listings. I figured as much since TCM has the trailer up.
Meanwhile, I think there are enough Altman aficionados out there to justify a DVD release. Don't put it past Warner to have an Altman contribution ready to roll. The studio is good about getting people on record before they pass, something you can see through their association with TCM.
