Why does the photographer, I can only assume it's the same one, have both Diane and Jennifer pose with a lottery ticket?

Diane Lane: December 1982
Diane Lane shows love for her as yet unreleased Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains in December of 1982. If it hasn't already been firmly established that Josh Brolin is one of the luckiest men alive today, let these photos stand as the final evidence:
Why does the photographer, I can only assume it's the same one, have both Diane and Jennifer pose with a lottery ticket?

Yeah, Diane Lane was a hottie even way back then. And what is up with the lottery ticket? To prove the date these photos were taken? Why didn't the photographer have them hold up a newspaper instead? Weird.
The only thing I can think of, after looking more closely at the lottery card that each actress holds up, is that the photos were used to promote the lottery in the New York Post--the cards indicate that the game was promoted by the Post.
I've been in love with Diane Lane ever since I was 13 and saw her in A LITTLE ROMANCE, which I still count as one of my 10 favorite movies. I love these photos! Thanks for this!
They don't get much lovelier than Diane Lane who remains as beautiful now in her 40s as she did as young teen in A LITTLE ROMANCE and FABULOUS STAINS and as a young woman in things like STREETS OF FIRE and THE OUTSIDERS.
Its funny that she's wearing that shirt. She looks about 17 or 18 in the photos. The movie the shirt is from was supposed to have been released already by that time, but for various reasons it never was. Then, in 2008, they put it out on DVD. There's a video on YouTube of her from Johnny Carson's Tonight Show where she's wearing this hair style and looks exactly like these photos. It must've been the same year. She'd already done another movie and was scheduled to do even more.
