Another example of my undying obsession with the New York I glanced at as a child or missed altogether. This is a mix of clips of the New York City subway system in those times when graffiti was a mainstay and everything underground was grimier and potentially hairier than we're accustomed to on today's MTA.

Dirty Old New York Subway

Could you give the list of films? There are a couple that I remember seeing, but don't remember the actors' names or the film so I can't look them up.
And btw, look at 1:12 (The French Connection). Is that Ron Glass? He is not listed in IMDB but it sure looks like him.
Anyway, thanks, this is really great. And you might want to try to get some footage from The Incident, a great subway film.
Thanks, matts2! At the 1:12 minute mark? I believe that is subway artist extraordinaire Lee Quinones from his starring role in WILD STYLE. Need to find a good copy of THE INCIDENT, as it is not on DVD and tried to have DVD-quality footage in the clip.
I will add a few more clips for sure...still undecided about including a full list of the films, as I kind've like the discussion that happens as people try to determine what's what.
Rob Liebmann brought back a tidal wave of kool memories!! Furthermore, I thought I had lost "Supercops" but after a grueling search thru all my VHS tapes I found it. I was late for the "Warriors" audition 'cause of some krazy chick. I'm still trying to obtain "Beat Street" on VHS or DVD but have too much on my plate for a devoted search. This is a great compilation, Ned..and can't wait for the additions you're tendering. Peace.
Thanks, Rico! Perhaps I need to put some BEAT STREET in there. I think '84 would be the cut-off then. What were you going to audition for in WARRIORS? And, yes, Ron Leibman was the man in SUPER COPS, HOT ROCK, and WHERE'S POPPA?.
Ned,
Great stuff! What's that Joe Spinell flick where he's huffing and puffing in the blue-patterned suit?
And BTW,
In recognition of your awesomeness, it is my pleasure to bestow upon your blog The Liebster Award!
(please scroll down in my post for an explanation; thank you!)

Wow! Thanks, Ivan!
The Joe Spinell film in question is Avakian's COPS AND ROBBERS.
Yowzers! Synchronicity alert: that is the Avakian film I most SHOULD have blabbed about at my blog, considering the flick is written by one of my faves, Donald Westlake.
Thanks!
Ivan
Haha, that is too funny!
The Warriors, The French Connection, Bananas, Deathwish, Little Murders, Nighthawks, Saturday Night Fever, ?, The Wilby Conspiracy?, ?, Night Shift, Wild Style, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Fort Apache The Bronx, Serpico, Husbands, ?, The Brother From Another Planet, Cops & Robbers, Maniac, ???, ?, The Last Detail, Ms. 45. What I missed ? (:
Fluoglacial,
Nice! You got a lot of them. There is no WILBY CONSPIRACY in there. I've added some more clips, but haven't uploaded yet. Up to around 40 different movies.
Could you tell me what is the movie with the frightened blonde girl, just after Maniac ? Thanks!
You're thinking of either DRESSED TO KILL or NEW YORK RIPPER.
NY Ripper, thx!
Ned, this might be my favorite one yet. Great stuff. From the banks of Lucinda, to the NYC Transit. Loved seeing my man Lee Quinones - great stuff man, as usual, you've got a talent for this sir.
bill teck,
Thanks so much, my man. Do you know Lee Q.? I'm at work on a larger, who-knows-how-long "dirty NYC" video now.
